Fish
Due to their unique habitat, fish require various adaptions in the veterinary practice. Ideally, a water sample should be brought in a separate, sealed container. That way we can include the water parameters in our diagnostic approach and therapy selection.
Housing and diet
We are happy to discuss housing and diet requirements of your fish. Water quality and choice of additional inhabitants of the aquarium directly impact the health of many fish.
Prevention and health check
We recommend annual health checks for your animals. This facilitates early disease detection, which is particularly important in older animals.
- Water quality check
- Quarantine examination in the case of new additions
- Parasite examinations
- Blood test
Diagnostics
We offer a wide variety of diagnostic tests, which are tailored to the needs of your fish.
- Digital x-ray
- Ultrasound
- Blood test
- Parasite check (including gill clip and skin scrape)
- Endoscopy and much more...
Surgery
We carry out all routine operations but also specialized surgeries.
- Dental treatments in various aquaria fish
- Removal of skin tumors
- Surgical interventions for egg binding and much more ...
Anesthesia
Due to the high susceptibility of fish to stress when handled, most examinations are carried out under anesthesia. Less invasive examinations and treatments can be carried out directly in the water after application of the anesthetic. For larger surgeries we built a special anesthesia stand for fish. This enables us to ventilate the fish and keep it wet while the surgery can be performed in a clean and sterile environment.
